Mahrez, who spoke while responding to the pressure European clubs have put on the Confederation of African Football and FIFA to postpone this year’s AFCON stated that their clubs would never be able to prevent them from going on international duty.
“Our clubs had no opinion because the Africa Cup of Nations is a big tournament like the Euros or the Copa America,”
Commenting on Algeria chances at the ongoing AFCON, the former Leicester man expressed optimism that Fennecs are good to retain the title they won in 2019 in Egypt.
“We want to make our country and people proud,” Mahrez said.
