
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has tasked corps members to integrate themselves into their host communities, respect their cultures and traditions during their service years.
The coordinator of the NYSC in Plateau, Ms. Caroline Embu, gave the advice in Mangu at the end of the orientation course for the 2021 batch “A” stream ll corps members.
Embu urged the corps members to offer selfless services and be instruments of unity in their host communities.
She also advised them to serve as ambassadors of the scheme by carrying out the dreams and aspirations of the founding fathers and the nation in other to build an egalitarian society.
The state coordinator also charged the corps members to participate in the post-camp Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program (SAED).
She said that such would help them to master various skills that would equip them for self-development and service, and in turn improve their socioeconomic status.
Embu warned the corps members to shun unnecessary and unauthorized journeys especially night journeys saying that the management frowns at such.
She also warned them to desist from wearing the NYSC uniform inappropriately, stressing that such an act would not be tolerated by the management of the scheme.
She added that erring corps members would be punished decisively.
She also advised the corps members to accept their postings to any part of the state in good faith.

She said that the state government had worked out strict modalities in synergy with the security agencies in the state to protect them.
The coordinator assured them that their security, welfare, and general well-being would be guaranteed by the state government during the service year.
Embu tanked the state government for supporting and creating a conducive environment for the NYSC activities in the state
Health officials were on camp to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to interested corps members.
