A man, Steven Opeyemi Moses, has dragged his wife of 8 years before Judge Funmilayo Asaolu’s Justice Court over alleged paternity fraud.
According to Moses, he married his wife in May 2016 and she delivered their son in November 2018.
However, their joy was short-lived when the parents were informed at the hospital that the boy was a sickle cell patient, though the father was AA and the mother AS.
Asked whether they carried out the genotype test at another facility, the man said, “We repeated the boy’s test twice after the first one and we also repeated ours to confirm if the test we did before our marriage was wrong. The results, however, came out the same way.”
The husband said he consulted his friends and some experts who told him that the condition of birthing an SS carrier is slim considering the genotype of the couple.

He stated that after he had spent a lot of money to keep the boy alive, he was forced to run a DNA test to confirm the paternity of the child sometime in March.
Responding to the allegation, the wife confirmed the story but added that she was displeased with her husband because “he didn’t come out straight that he wanted to do a DNA test. He started misbehaving in the house, sometimes, he won’t come home until one of my brothers intervened. That was when he said what was troubling him. He now gave me the excuse that his dad told him he was nursing another man’s child.”
The judge read out the test result which says the probability that Moses fathered the boy is 0%.
Judge Asaolu ordered DNA between the woman and the child to ascertain if the child was swapped at the hospital of birth.
