NYSC offers free medical service in Niger

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commenced free medical consultations with residents of the Paiko Local Govt Area in Niger.

Mrs Funmilayo Ajayi, the state NYSC coordinator, inaugurated the five-day medical consultations of the Youth Corps Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers in Paiko on Tuesday.

She said that the programme, aimed to promote the health of residents, was one of the numerous ways that the NYSC scheme was making a positive impact in its host communities.

“The scheme helps in grassroots development as the corps members will give you maximum care on health-related issues within the five days of the second phase of this medical outreach,” she said.

The coordinator urged members of the community to utilise the opportunity to access medical care and appreciated the corps members for the initiative.

In his remarks, Mr Yohanna Yakubu, the council Chairman, appreciated the NYSC for the gesture, describing it as a laudable corporate social responsibility programme.

The chairman, who was represented by Mr Abel Galadima, the Director, Social Development, said that the programme would alleviate the health challenges of residents.
