Roads in some Akoko communities Ondo state including Ikare, Ugbe and Arigidi have been deserted as fuel scarcity and hike are biting harder in Akoko area.
It was observed that many fuel stations are not selling the product while few selling go for between N200 and N250 per litre.
This development has led to hike in both inter city and inter states transport fares thereby affecting socio-economic activities of Akokoland.
A drop on commercial motorcycles (Okada) is now N150 or N200 from former N100.
An Okada rider, Ojo Ibrahim attributed the fare hike to high price of fuel and scarcity of the product.
An Ikare Akoko resident, Oye Ajileye condemned the scarcity and hike since the oil sector is the driver of the nation’s economy it must have a greater negative impact on the masses.

Ajileye urged government to be sincere if they want to increase the price of the commodities instead of allowing dealers to be selling at outrageous prices.
