The Federal Government will on Monday arraign suspects arrested in connection with the recent killings in Yelwata, Benue State, before the Federal High Court, Abuja.

The suspects will be charged before Justice Joyce Abdul-Malik following what government officials described as extensive investigations and inter-agency collaboration.

A statement on Sunday by Kamarudeen Ogundele, Special Adviser to the President on Communication and Publicity in the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, said the prosecution was part of efforts to ensure accountability and deter future attacks.

He said the Office of the Attorney-General had concluded preparations for the trial and was determined to pursue the case to its logical conclusion.

Ogundele added that the move was aimed at sending a strong signal to “enemies of the country operating under any guise” that criminal acts would not go unpunished.

He assured Nigerians that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remained committed to protecting lives and property in line with constitutional provisions.

The killings in Yelwata had sparked public outrage in Benue State, with residents calling for swift justice and stronger security measures across the region.
