By Kassim Omomia

Two Honorable members of the House of Representatives, Aliyu Yakwo formerly of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kano, and Hon. Danjuma Usman (APGA, Taraba)  have joined the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Their letters of defection were read on the floor of the House during by Speaker of the House, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, despite complaints by the minority leadership that the actions of the former PDP and APGA lawmakers were illegal

Recall that Hon. Aliyu defeated Abdulmuminu Jibril of the APC in a rerun election last year in Kano, citing crisis in the state PDP as his reason

The same reason was advanced by Hon. Usman who said the All Progressive Grand Alliance was also embroiled in crisis affecting his political fortunes.

Meanwhile the opposition leadership in the House has described the various action illegal, citing the supreme court ruling and the provisions of section 68 (1a) of the constitution which stipulates that any member who leaves the party in whose platform he was elected should lose his seat.

Efforts by Ndudi Elumelu and Toby Okechukwu to convince the speaker were ruled out of order
