My expulsion, a nullity-Eta, former APC vice chair

Dissolution in interest of the party, says Enugu party chieftain

By David Onimisi Lawani

Following the crisis rocking the All Progressives Party, APC, the National Executive Committee, NEC during its meeting today held at the Villa which had the national Excos and Zonal structures of the party dissolved, the former South South APC National Vice Chairman, Hilary Eta has maintained that his expulsion from the party was a nullity.

In a reaction, he said the NEC meeting was illegal and their resolution couldn’t have been enough reason for his expulsion from the parting noting that the acting national secretary doesn’t possess such power.

According to him: ” I am already in court.  The lawyers amongst them should have told them that they can’t make that pronouncement since I am in court.

” Their action is a nullity because it isn’t even the NEC of the party that met. Their so-called acting national secretary has no power to convene NEC’’, he said.

Ben Nwoye, Enugu State Chairman and the Secretary, Forum of State Chairmen reacting to the dissolution of Exco by NEC stated that the decision was in the interest of the party.

‘’ The decision to dissolve the Exco of the party was in the interest of the party. The outcome of the NEC meeting was in the interest of the party to further strengthen the party and further streamline the processes and solidify the party and by the time the Caretaker Committee finishes their work, we have a more formidable party. We have a more forward- looking and more progressive political party’’.

When asked if that was the official position of the Forum, in view of opposition by some state’s chairmen he said: ‘’ I don’t know where you got that information from, all I know is that, this is the official position of the forum’’. One highly commends the profound and excellent decision of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great party aimed at repositioning and reinvigorating our party.”
