INEC ad-hoc staff for the ongoing Lagos Governorship and House of Assembly elections in some part of Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area of state refused to resume duty at their various polling unit over non payment of their allowance for the February 25 presidential and National assembly elections.
Most of the adhoc staff, who were at the collation centre at Sari-Iganmu Nursery and Primary School-Oke Oja, Amukoko as early as at 7:am to take delivery of the voting materials threatened to boycott the election unless they are paid their outstanding allowance and upfront payment for today’s elections.
However, it took the effort of some INEC officials and a top council official of the local government to prevail on them.
Their action was hinged on their fear that they may be abandoned at the end of the election and would not be paid their allowances.

Some of the ad-hoc staff who spoke with This Nigeria on anonymity, insists that three weeks after the Presidential and National Assembly elections they are yet to receive their allowances.
“The fear is that some of us we not received their training allowance as well as payment for the February 25 elections. We want them to pay us so as to avoid a repeat of what happened at the end of the presidential and NASS elections where some of us are still being owed by INEC.
Efforts to speak with the INEC official in charge of the centre proved abortive as he was not ready to spoke with the media.
The agitating INEC adhoc staff will however live for their various polling unit at about 9:15 am
