INEC dismisses petition to recall Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed the petition to recall Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District.
This was made known in a terse statement by the electoral body in a post made on Facebook on Thursday.
The commission wrote, “BREAKING NEWS: The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).
Detailed statement shortly.”
Recall that some constituents from her senatorial district had earlier submitted a recall petition against her to the electoral body.
Last Wednesday, INEC acknowledged receiving a letter containing the contact address, telephone numbers, and email addresses of the petitioners’ representatives. This update follows the commission’s earlier observation that the initial petition lacked these details, which are mandatory under Clause 1(f) of the 2024 Regulations and Guidelines for Recall.
