Operatives of the Anambra state police command on Saturday arrested a top Commander of the Eastern Security Network, (ESN) the militant arm of a member of the Independent People of Biafra, (IPOB) in Ekwuluobia town, the headquarters of Aguata local government area of the state.
The latest incident came less than 24 hours after suspected gunmen killed four Policemen during an exchange of gun duel with police patrol team at the same Ekwuluobia town while members of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) were holding the Governorship campaign rally at the township stadium at about 11 am on Friday.
ThisNigeria gathered that the ESN Commander was arrested in the afternoon at Ekwukobia.
Findings revealed that the police nabbed the ESN operative with a bullet wound in his house after a tip-off by a concerned individual.
The name of the victim was given as Udebuan Sage Chbueze.
Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga when contacted said he had no details about the artist.
However, a senior police officer of the comma d who pleaded for anonymity disclosed that “One Udebuan Sage Chibueze ‘M’, a top Commander of IPOB/ESN was arrested today (Saturday). The suspect was arrested with a gunshot injury on 29th October 2021.”
He explained that four AK 47 riffles, two automatic Pump Action Guns, and several live ammunition were recovered from the ESN commander’s houses.

According to the officer, “A search was conducted in his house at Ekwulobia and Nnewi where four AK 47, two Automatic pump-action, and several ammunition were recovered.
“The suspect confessed to have led several attacks on police facilities and responsible for the killings of several policemen and Naval personnel. We commend this breakthrough as this will further weaken the strength of IPOB/ESN against the security men.”
He added that the ESN operative has been making useful confessions to security agents which would help towards the arrest of other members.
