After receiving calls from residents of the neighbourhood, the Director-General of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, has made the decision to seal a partially collapsed building in Ijora-Badia.
The building which is located at 26, Afolabi Alafia Street, Gaskiya Road accommodates 77 occupants in its 20 rooms.
Speaking about the reason for the evacuation, Dr Oke-Osanyintolu said, “Our review of the building proved that the entire building is weak, dilapidated and no longer fit for habitation.
“The building has been sealed by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and cordoned off by the agency’s response team.
“Further actions on the building will be carried out by LASBCA.”
