Man to spend six years in jail for exploiting 16 years old girl

A Federal high court sitting in Kano on Wednesday sentenced a 27 years-old man, Rabiu Abdullahi , also known as Kanparanti to six years in jail for sexually exploiting a 16 years- old girl.
The prosecutor, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, on March 7, 2020 had dragged the convict before the court on a one count allegation of sexual exploitation.
Counsel to the prosecution, barrister Abdullahi Baballe told the court that, Kanparanti lured one Fatima Ahmad an indigene of Hadjia in Jigawa state to Kaduna state, where he introduced her to different men for sexual purposes.
The prosecution further said, the convicted acted in a manner that contradicts the provisions of section 16(I) of the laws on trafficking in persons, adding that the arraigned man deducts monetary commission from the sexual transactions that transpired between Fatima and the men introduced to her .
The prosecution called one witness and also tendered two exhibits before the court.
The defendant, Rabiu told the court that the allegations levied against him were all true, he pleaded for leniency.
The presiding judge, Justice Sa’adatu Ibrahim said the prosecution have proven its case beyond reasonable doubts. The court then sentenced the defendant to six years in jail without an option of fine.
