Jangebe Abduction: Buhari kicks against ransom payments

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that continuous payments of ransom will prosper kidnapping across the country.

Buhari said this in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu on Tuesday and urged security operatives to go after the culprits and bring them to justice.

The president also celebrated the release of abducted female students of Government Girls Science Secondary School, Jangebe, in Zamfara.

“I join the families and people of Zamfara in welcoming and celebrating the release of these traumatized female students.

“I am excited that their ordeal came to a happy end without any incident. Being held in captivity is an agonizing experience not only for the victims, but also their families and all of us.”

Buhari further called for greater vigilance by the people so that human intelligence could be collected early enough to nip the bandits’ plans in the bud.

“Ransom payments will continue to prosper kidnapping,” he said.
