Never again will politicians come to deceive you, FCT Minister thanks AMAC residents

By Ben Adoga, Abuja

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has assured Abuja natives of fair treatment and protection of their ancestral homes.

Wike gave this commitment on Wednesday at the AMAC Town Hall in Apo Resettlement during his second leg of his thank-you visit.

A youth had earlier requested a C-of-O for their settlements to stop challenges and issues faced by natives.

In his response, the Minister assured the people that he understood how they feel, as he is from a state where urbanisation has taken over communities.

“When the youth was talking, I saw something very important. I know how land is.  I’m from a place where the city has taken over, too. I will do everything I can to make you comfortable.

“I know how painful it is. Because I’m from somewhere where that has happened, when they talk, we already know what they mean.”

Wike reiterated, while thanking the people for choosing wisely the next time they elect officers.

He said they should vote for those who know where they live, feel their pains and share in their hopes and aspirations.

“We must change the pattern of politics in Abuja. We must. We must recognise that wherever you go, there are people there. We must recognise it. It doesn’t matter how smart they may be. We must give that recognition.”

“So, I thank you. And I do not take your support for granted. We make sure we come and interact with you from time to time. How many times I called them? How many times I called them? You know what that means. Make sure we don’t disappoint our people. Make sure all their efforts don’t go in vain.

“And I said, one thing you must always know is that a relationship must not be one-sided. The relationship must be symbiotic. You do for me, I do for you. You fall for me, I fall for you. You push me, I push you. You love me, I love you.

“Never again will politicians come to deceive us. Never again will we sit in a place and they come and tell us stories, and after voting, you will not see anybody again. Will you allow that to happen again?” He asked the people.
