Football legend, Pele dies at 82

Brazillian football legend, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, popularly known as Pele has died at 82.

He had been hospitalised for over a month after he was diagnosed of bowel cancer in September.

His daughter, Kelly Nascimento had taken to Instagram on Wednesday, expressing sadness over her father’s ill health.

“These moments are hard to explain. Sometimes there is a lot of sadness and despair, in other moments we laugh and speak about fun memories.

‘A murder so cruel’

“What we learn the most from all of this is that we have to seek out one another and hold each other tight. That’s the only way that this is worth it. Everyone must be together,” she wrote.

The Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a forward was regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and labelled “the greatest” by FIFA.

He was among the most successful and popular sports figures of the 20th century.
