
Talented and fast-rising AfroPop singer, Olaoluwa Gbemileke Ogunleye, popularly known as 50Leke, is a native of Osun state, born in Ibadan, Oyo State. He had hish primary and secondary education in Ibadan, and is also an undergraduate student of psychology at the University of Ibadan. Since 2020, he has been making his music both in Ibadan and Lagos. In this interview with Quadri Akanbi, 50Leke reveals his source of inspiration.

You are an undergraduate student of phycology, how were you able to develop interest in music?
Yes, I have been doing music since secondary school, hanging out with my friends and going to shows to perform some freestyle.
When did you start music as a career?
Music has been my life, but my first single was dropped in 2020.
How did you come across your stage name 50Leke?
I’m a man who believes life is full of opportunities that are not meant for the low alone, but for both the low and high standard.
Have you at any time represented your school or department in a music competition?
Yeah, I freestyle on campus in shows and competitions, but do not represent my department.
What genre of music do you sing?

As an artist, can you play any musical instrument?
No, I don’t play instruments.
What is your source of inspiration?
The source of my inspiration so far has been nature, the life around me, and the one I hear of.
How many songs/albums have you produced since you came back to the industry?
With the help of the almighty, I have been able to drop two songs, Ayie Gbege and Gbo (Listen).
Who’s your ideal musician to collaborate with, and why?
Olamide (Baddo), Ayo Balogun (Wizkid), and Burna boy, these are the artists that I can relate with their ideal cause. They preach about love, peace, and light.
What’s the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?
Buhari vows to fight agents of destabilization
Keep it real and don’t stop.
What’s your day like as an artist?
Everything I do is a lifestyle.
Do you have a favourite food?
Iyan with egusi soup.
What is your memorable experience as an artist?
The day I was called out by a blown artist after performing my song.
