
Gov. Gboyega Oyetola of Osun has warned children against illicit drugs, cultism, and association that could jeopardize their future.
Oyetola also urged them to shun behaviors that could hinder them from fulfilling their dreams in life.
The governor spoke at a programme organized by the state’s Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs to mark 2021 Children’s Day on Thursday, in Osogbo.
Oyetola also warned them against excessive use of social media, which he said, was capable of depriving them of their valuable time.
He described children as important stakeholders, whose voices matter in the collective drive of taking the state to a greater height.

“You are the strategic inspiration behind our assiduous commitment to building an Osun that is peaceful, forward-looking, and progressive.
“We are here today because both today and tomorrow must be guaranteed for you.
“We realize that tomorrow is only worth waiting for if your rights are protected and if we care to provide the right kind of society that enables you to live to your fullest potential.
“I urge you to work hard at being the best you can be.
“The pathway to an outstanding life is spotted with many distractions and it is your duty to avoid anything that will hinder you from fulfilling your potential”, the governor said.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs, Mrs. Olubukola Olaboopo, urged parents and guardians to brace up to the responsibility of training their children and wards to ensure their success in life.
Olaboopo lauded the governor for showing love and care to children and youths since assumption of office.
