7-day warning strike: Leaders of Unilorin NASU, SSANU pledge full compliance

Members of the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU, and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, University of Ilorin branch, have pledged to comply fully with the 7-day warning strike declared by their national bodies.
The warning strike is billed to begin today, Monday.
The Chairmen of NASU, Comrade Ibrahim Zubar, vowed that the chapter will totally comply with the directives of the union.
Stating that he does not expect to see any member at work, Zubar said, “All members of the union will stay off duty and will not go to work as directed by the national body.”
Also speaking, the chapter Chairman of SSANU, Falowo Olushola Naheem, stated that the action is to force the Federal government to meet some unfulfilled demands of the unions.

“The expectations from our members are simple, stay away from duty for seven days.
“Of all the above demands the one that triggered the 7-day warning strike is the non-payment of our four months withheld salaries while our sister union, ASUU was paid four months out of their eight months withheld salaries,” he added.
The demands of the bodies include regotiation of 2009 FGN/NASU/SSANU agreement, reconstitution of governing councils, payment of four months withheld salaries, release of earned allowances and improved funding of public universities.
