Police Chief pledges robust security for Ondo varsity of science

The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Okitipupa Area Command, in Ondo state, Mr. Salau Jimoh, has promised to work together with the Management of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, OAUSTECH, to guarantee the security of lives and property of the institution’s staff and students.

Mr. Jimoh gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the new Chief Executive Officer of the University, Prof. Temi Emmanuel Ologunorisa in his office at the Main Campus of OAUSTECH in Okitipupa.

The Area Commander acknowledged the existing cordial relationship between the University and the police and pledged that he and his men would contribute their quota to the security and peace of the University, as he thanked OAUSTECH for the newly-built Police Post at Ugandan.

Also speaking, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Igbekebo, Olajide Orogade, who was a former student of Professor Ologunorisa, congratulated the Vice-Chancellor for the well-deserved appointment, as he prayed that his tenure would bring more development and progress to the University.

The Superintendent of Police advised the University to look for a way of having its shuttle buses at a subsidized rate for the convenience of students and as another means of internally generated revenue for the institution.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the security chiefs for the visit and expressed his readiness to work with them for the maintenance of peace and security in the University, stressing that “It is only in an atmosphere of peace that progress can be made.”

“I promise to give you my utmost support because the University needs you,” OAUSTECH helmsman stated.

The University Registrar, Mr. Ganiyu Saliu, appreciated the police chiefs for their visit and advice, saying the Management would look at what it can do about the University running shuttle buses raised by the DPO.

Others present at the meeting were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Igbasan, DPO of Okitipupa, Mustapha Bolaji Akeem, and the University’s newly appointed Deputy Director of Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Paul Busayo Adeagbo.
