Police arrest suspected drug trafficker, recover 2,000 diazepam tablets in Katsina
The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug trafficker and recovered 2,000 tablets of suspected Diazepam in Funtua Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Jibrin Salisu, was apprehended on June 15, 2026, by operatives of the Central Police Station (CPS), Funtua, during a routine anti-crime patrol.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said the officers intercepted Salisu while he was riding a motorcycle and recovered two sachets containing the suspected illicit drugs during a search.
The police spokesperson said preliminary investigations revealed that Salisu confessed to receiving the substances from a 26-year-old woman, Faith Eze, for onward delivery to an accomplice identified as “Gurgu,” who is currently at large.
Following the information provided by the suspect, police operatives conducted a follow-up operation that led to the arrest of Eze, who allegedly admitted involvement in the illegal drug business.
The command said efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect and uncover other members of the syndicate involved in the distribution of the substances.
The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse, warning individuals involved in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs to desist or face prosecution.
