Regular Electricity supply to higher institutions will enhance learning, says Akeredolu.

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has said that access to regular electricity in educational facilities or institutions like the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo would improve the learning process and the general conditions on campus.

“Regular electricity will no doubt enable night academics activities which are critical to excellent performances”, he said.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony for the improvement of Power Supply to Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, a project facilitated by Niger Delta Power Holding Company ( NDPHC ).

The Governor who expressed delight about the project disclosed that the project was in tandem with his REDEEMED policy thrust.

He said, “today, we are witnessing a fulfillment of one of our promises… in addition to the Federal Government, we have done a lot in the Downstream sector of the power supply valve chain”.

Disclosing that, “the State has donated over 27 distribution transformers to needing communities, constructed several relief substations with the extension of both low and high voltage networks”.

“We also carried out rehabilitation of moribund and vandalized networks in the State, all in an efforts to strengthen electricity networks and increase energy supply to the people of the State”, he explained.

Appraising the technical details of the project, the governor said the project was bound to address two critical areas of concern which are security and power supply.

The project would be of tremendous benefit to both the Polytechnic and neighboring communities because of the location of the institution, he said.

At the ceremony with the Deputy Governor are, Executive Director of Engineering and Technical Services, NDPHC, Engr Ife Oyedele, Vice Chairman of APC, Southern Senatorial District, Dr. Deji Oyedele, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon Wale Akinlosotu, Commissioner of Health, Dr. Banji Ajaka, Special Adviser to Governor on Education, Dr ( Mrs ) Wunmi Ilawole, Ondo State House Assemblymember and Committee on Information, Youth and Sport, Hon Gbenga Omole.

Others are Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Hon Femi Idris, Chairman, Governing Council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Barrister Banji Alabi, Rector, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, Mr. Gani Adebola Ogundahunsi, Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, and others.
