
A 46-year-old travel agent, Kolawole Dele, was on Thursday docked in an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates ‘Court sitting in Ibadan, for alleged N3.5 million fraud.
The police charged Dele, who resides in Orita Challenge in Ibadan, with conspiracy, theft, obtaining under false pretext.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Opeyemi Olagunju, told the court that the defendant and others at large allegedly conspired together to commit the offense.
He said that Kolawole between July to December 2020 obtained N2 million cash from Olukemi Jolayemi, to procure an American visa for her daughter, knowing the same to be false.
The prosecution also said that the defendant converted N1.5 million belonging to Jolayemi.
Olagunju told the court that the offense contravened the provisions of Section 383 and is punishable under sections 390 (9), 419, and 516 of the Oyo State Criminal Code 2000.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Olaide Hamzat, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
Hamzat adjourned the case until Dec. 6, for a hearing.
