Lagos engages stakeholders on Obalende bus park redevelopment

The Lagos State Government has held a stakeholders’ meeting on the proposed redevelopment of the Obalende Bus Park into a modern transport hub through a public-private partnership with MTN Nigeria.
This was according to a statement posted on Facebook by Tokunbo Wahab, the state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, on Friday.
The project, covering the Main Bus Park, Bus Park 2, and supporting facilities such as a Loading Bay and Park Garden, is expected to be completed within 21 weeks of commencement.
According to the statement, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, stressed the importance of optimal space utilisation to accommodate all commercial bus operations in the Obalende axis, noting that functional infrastructure is critical to the project’s success and sustainability.
He also recommended the formation of a technical committee to address key implementation details and emphasized continuous engagement with transport unions.
The meeting was attended by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Engr. Olakunle Rotimi Akodu @rotimi_akodu; the Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services, Engr. Mahamood Adegbite @mogbite; the Chairman, Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, Hon. Bola Oladunjoye; the MD, LAWMA, Dr. @muyiwag; the GM, LASPARK, Mrs. Adetoun Popoola; representatives of MTN Nigeria; and other stakeholders.
