Fix Okene/Ukpilla road, Reps urge Buhari

The House of Representatives has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently fix the Ukpilla/ Okene highway which is a major artery to the nation’s capital, Abuja, and other parts of the North and Southern states in the country.
It passed a resolution after debating a motion sponsored by the Deputy Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Nkeiruka C. Onyejeocha , urging the President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately order the Ministry of Works and Housing to carry out urgent rehabilitation works on the road , the portion leading to Lokoja/Okene/Auchi/Benin federal highway.
The sorry state of the road, according to her,has left commuters, travellers having nightmares traversing the road, and in most times, sleeping on the roads and spending quality time stranded on the highway.

Onyejeocha in her lead debate, further noted that the road has been abandoned for several years, adding that if not rehabilitated before the coming rains later in the year, the road will be impassable.
She explained that it was the responsibility of government to manage roads infrastructure in the country and asked the Federal Government to make funds available because of the strategic nature of the motorway which is a gateway to all parts of the country, north, east, west, and south.
