President of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), Dr. Rafiu Ladipo has sent a congratulatory message to Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba for his victory over Australia’s Joseph Goodall on Saturday night at the Tahoe Blue Event Center, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada
Ajagba, who put his World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver heavyweight title on the line, was mightily impressive, knocking out Australian in the fourth round, in the main event of a card presented by Top Rank.
A pile driving right to the head, stunned Goodall making his legs wobbly in the fourth round. Ajagba realized the effect he wrought to his rival, and didn’t let Goodall off the hook.
Referee Tony Weeks followed the actions very closely, and decided to intervene to humanely stop the fight. The finish came 50 seconds into the fourth round, and this victory leaves Ajagba with his fourth victory in a row, improving his record to 19-1, with 14 knockouts.
With this victory, Ajagba successfully defended his WBC Silver heavyweight title.
Reacting to the outcome of the fight, Dr Ladipo told ThisNigeria Sports that it was an entertaining fight with Ajagba giving a good account of himself as he dominated the the Australian in all the rounds before sending him to the ground in the fourth round.
“Yes, I watched the fight and I can tell you that Ajagba fought well, and if he continues with this form and with a little bit of improvement he stands a great chance of having a shot at the world title.
“However, my advice to him is that he has to improve his foot work and be very mobile in the ring. He really impressed and i say kudos to him for making Nigerians proud,” Ladipo said.
