Gov Matawalle has imposed 24hoirs curfew in Bakura and Talata Mafara local government areas, following the breakdown of law and order resulting in the killing.of two persons and smashing of cars ahead
of the forthcoming Bakura House of Assembly bye-election.
Announcing the curfew in a broadcast, Governor Matawalle said the the curfew became necessary in view of the impending crisis engineered by the supporters of the two rival political parties, PDP and APC.
According to him, no responsible government would fold its arms and allow killings and vandalism.
He called for restraint and eschew violence in the conduct of election campaigns.
Also commennting, AIG in-charge of Sokoto zone, Mustafa Mohammed said the police has cancelled the campaign rally of both APC and PDP to avert clashes between the supporters of the two parties.
He said already two persons have lost their lives in the political crisis.
