Yomi Alliyu, the lawyer to Yoruba activist and Yoruba Nation Agitator, Mr Sunday Adeyemo better known as Sunday Igboho has said that Sunday Igboho has kidney or lungs illness.

Yomi Alliyu speaking with BBC Yoruba, said “I can’t tell if he has been returned to the prison from the hospital but what I know is, he’s battling ill health and it seems his kidney and lungs are already being affected.

“Even though I cannot tell which part of his body the sickness has really affected, I know it has to do with his internal organs.”

Mr Sunday Igboho is currently in Benin Republic prison.

The Department of State Services (DSS) had last month filed a five-count terrorism charge against two detained associates of Sunday Igboho.

The DSS had in August said it arrested 13 suspects when it raided the Ibadan residence of Mr Sunday Igboho.

The agency said that it raided Igboho’s residence based on intelligence report that Igboho had stockpiled arms in his residence and that during the raid the DSS team came under heavy gun attack by nine men, suspected to be Igboho’s guards.

The raid on his home made Igboho flee the country for Cotonou, Benin Republic, on July 16, 2021, with his wife, but was later apprehended as he attempt to travel to Germany.
