
A hairstylist, Stella Okpe, who allegedly inflicted knife wounds on her niece, on Thursday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The police charged Okpe, who resides at No. 1, Mende St., Maryland, Lagos, with assault under Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
She pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Kenrich Nomayo, told the court that the defendant beat up her 13-year-old niece to a pulp and also wounded her body with a knife.
Nomayo alleged that the defendant committed the offense sometime in 2019 and 2021 at her residence.

The prosecution said the victim was brought to Lagos to live with the defendant.
The Magistrate, Miss Elizabeth Adeola, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adeola adjourned the case until Sept. 21 for a hearing.
