
The Presidential Election Tribunal has begun its pre-hearing, following petition by aggrieved parties challenging the outcome of the February 25th presidential election conducted by INEC
The pre-hearing which is being held in Abuja witnessed tight security presence to ensure its smooth running.
Recall that INEC had declared the candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu President-Elect after he garnered a total 8,794,726 votes to beat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Carty candidate, Peter Obi who polled 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 respectively.
Dissatisfied by the outcome of the election, candidates of the opposition parties, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar called for the annulment of the results of the election, citing electoral violence, voters apathy, irregularities on the part of INEC, amongst other allegations.
