Gunmen abducts expatiate, kills police orderly in Edo

An expatriate attached to Hartland construction company has been allegedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen while his orderly was killed.

The incident occurred on Monday evening at the Idegun Secondary School in Etsako West local government area.

The gunmen were alleged to have stormed the Idegun Community in the Anwain clan, abducted the expatriate, and killed his orderly.

When contacted, the image-maker of the Edo police command, DSP Kontongs Bello said he was yet to be briefed on the issue.

He, however, promised to get back to newsmen when he confirmed it.

It was gathered that the expatriate was supervising the construction of the Idegu-Awain road when the gunmen abducted him.

It was also gathered that the gunmen numbering over five emerged from the bush and started shooting sporadically before kidnapping the victim, killing the orderly, and fleeing into the bush.

A source in the community, who said the local vigilantes were currently combing the bushes in the area in search of the abducted expatriate added that some police officers arrived later to evacuate the corpse of the deceased to the mortuary.

Recall, that a driver and two policemen with the same Hartland Construction Company simply identified as Buhari was allegedly shot dead by gunmen in the process of kidnapping an expatriate along the Benin-Auchi expressway in Edo state capital last year.
