Fubara caused his suspension, ungrateful to Wike, says Dum Dekor

The lawmaker representing Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency, Hon Dum Dekor, has blamed the suspended governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara for his political plight.

In a recent interview, the lawmaker noted that the embattled governor disregarded several court pronouncements that would have long settled the political crisis in the South-South state.

“The Court made specific pronouncements, they were not obeyed, the matter went on to Supreme Court. I was seated in court alongside a young man that was supposed to be the Attorney General of Rivers State so nobody can say James or John weren’t represented. The judgment was given in clear language but it was disobeyed and it further heightened the tension that was in the land.

“You will hear stories of Mr Governor going to present the budget but he was shut out, a letter should be directed to the Speaker or the Clerk of the House and it will be read on the floor. If there was no crisis, they would have come together to agree but in this case, there is crisis. The lawmakers have not been paid for 18 months. You can’t send such a letter through WhatsApp, there’s a difference between the office of the Speaker and the Speaker,” he said.

Dekor also wondered why Fubara’s advance team was not sent ahead of the governor to work things out before he went to the Assembly complex.

Commending President Bola Tinubu and the Sole Administrator in Rivers State for restoring peace, the lawmaker added, “My major consideration the lives and properties of Rivers State indigenes and those who reside there. Those who are crisis entrepreneurs should leave Rivers State and its people alone.

“The other day I saw people carrying a casket bearing the picture of the FCT minister (Nyesom Wike) who is the leader of the state, the governor can not say he has no knowledge of that.

“Impeachment is part of governance. I thank Mr President for the emergency rule because the impeachment would have been unstoppable.”

Dekor, who believes that Fubara was ungrateful to the FCT minister and former governor of the state, Nyesom Wike, said, “No matter how you look at it, the grassroots and structure of Rivers State remains with Wike.”

He noted that the political space of the state was in disagreement during the last election “but every one of us who was running for an office in the state leveraged the successes made by Wike and the people out and voted for us”.
