Breaking: Buhari presides over Security Meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently presiding over the Security Meeting in Abuja.

Those in attendance, at the meeting, include the Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, and the Minister of Defence, retired Maj-Gen. Bashir Magashi as well as National Security Adviser, retired Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno (Rtd).

Others are Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, Chief of Army Staff; Lieut.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Naval Staff; Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Ishiaka Oladayo Amoo and the acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba.

Recall that the House of Representative has urged President Buhari to declare a State of Emergency on security challenges facing the country.

According to a resolution read by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila at the end a four- hour executive session on Tuesday in Abuja.

Also, the Yobe Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Tuesday said the security situation in the state generally needed quick response and reassessment.

Buni made his position known during an emergency security meeting in Damaturu.

The governor condemned the recent Boko Haram attack on Geidam town.

He described the resurgence of Boko Haram attacks on Geidam in which some lives were lost with men, women, children, young and old forced out of their homes as sad.

More so Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue on Tuesday condemned the killing of seven persons in Monday’s attack on Abagena Internally Displaced Persons camp in Makurdi.

Many were also injured in the attack which the displaced persons blamed on herdsmen.

Survivors of the attack blocked the Makurdi –Lafia Road on Tuesday to protest the attack when Gov. Ortom visited.
