Gov Zulum lays foundation stone for reconstruction and upgrading of Bauchi govt House

Governor of Borno State and Chairman, North East Governors forum, Babagana Umara Zulum has laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction and upgrading of the government house Bauchi state, just as he reiterated North-east Governors determination to bring positive changes to the sub-region.

Governor Zulum said that in order to address the root causes of insurgency that is not limited to endemic poverty, illiteracy and social inequality, environmental degradation, unemployment amongst others, governors of the North-east have no other option than to provide the necessary infrastructures that will create jobs in the zone.

Governor who stated this shortly before laying the foundation, charged the Governors of the northeast region that they must leave the comfort of their zone to attend the demands of the poor and vulnerable who are affected as a result of poor governance, high handedness, corruption amongst others, adding that this is the right time for things to be done in order to move the nation forward.

“The North-east Governor’s Forum that was established few months ago, has made tremendous efforts in repositioning the northeast sub-region. Among the resolutions that were considered at the North-east governor’s forum is the establishment of the northeast airline. This will go a long way in ameliorating the transportation problems of the people of the northeast”

“We are also looking into the possibility of establishing a sub-regional security outfit that will address the lingering security situation in the country. In addition to this, we want to ensure the establishment of the North-east bank that will provide enabling finances through our SMEs, especially the vulnerable to earn their means of livelihood” he said

While commending Governor Bala Mohammed for the laudable projects executed under his administration, the Borno state Governor said that the reconstruction and upgrading of the government house project was a good one as it will established a veritable and civil administration in Bauchi state.

Earlier in his address, the Bauchi State governor, Bala Abdulkadri Mohammed said that the project will cost N6.2 billion and will include complete demolishing of the current government house in Bauchi

He noted that regional collaboration between the Governors of the North-east has brought unity in the region, stressing that despite the fact that the governors of the northeast are from different political divide, they are still bonded by the desire to bring development in their respective states.

“This project is conceptualized in order to give Bauchi state renewal a new impetus by giving us a befitting government house that is the same with other government house in the country, even Gombe state that came out of Bauchi state, their government house is better than our own. I believe that we should positively compete, I went to Adamawa, I saw what my brother did in Adamawa, so it is the place I borrowed an idea that we should do something” he said
