2023 Lagos Inter-School Olympics: CBIS are overall champion

Caleb British International School (CBIS), Lekki, Lagos, emerged overall champion in an outstanding performance at the highly contested Lagos Inter-School Olympics tournament which ended at the weekend.

The tournament, organized by the esteemed Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, brought together schools from across the region to compete in various sporting disciplines at the Sports Pavilion of Caleb British Schools Ajah, Lagos.

Demonstrating their exceptional athletic prowess and unwavering determination, the students from Caleb British International School clinched a total of seven gold, one silver and two bronze medals to top the medal table.

The CBIS football team, showcasing remarkable skill and teamwork, triumphed over Atwool School in a gripping final match, which ended 1-0 in their favour as they won gold medal in the football event.

In their run-up to the final, the CBIS football team overwhelmed Aunty Ayo School in a one-sided encounter that ended 5-2. This monumental achievement has added yet another prestigious football trophy to their enviable collection of accolades.

Caleb British International School also dominated in the basketball event with a victory over Aunty Ayo Secondary School’s basketball team by 56-12 points in the final, recording no defeats throughout the competition

The outstanding performance of the CBIS team earned them high praise, leading the Director of Malizay School to pledge a trophy donation to recognize their remarkable achievements in this tournament.

CBIS also proved their mettle in the track and field events with Desmond winning in the 100 meters boys’ category, just as Princess Akachi exhibited remarkable skill and determination to clinch the girls’ category. Also the duo of Chisimdi Okonkwo and Benjamin Clever won the gold in their respective 200 metres event.

Favour Emami achieved a commendable feat by securing the second position, earning a Silver medal, while Harry Irvin attained an impressive third place in the 400 meters event.

The boys’ Relay team brought further glory to CBIS by securing the Gold medal, while the school also excelled in the Table Tennis game, further cementing their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the realm of sports.

In recognition of their remarkable accomplishments, Caleb British International School was honoured with the prestigious overall best trophy in the Olympics competition.
