Ohanaeze lambasts Kyari, seeks extradition

Pan-Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, has warned that the suspended head of IRT, DCP Abba Kyari, should never be allowed to remain in Nigeria with his recent arrest by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

A statement by its secretary-general, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said it was passing its position on the “overwhelming evidence of complicity in drugs-related cases” against the indicted police officer.

According to Ohanaeze, rather than keeping Kyari in Nigeria, he should be extradited to the United States to face the allegations from the FBI over the Hushpuppi scandal, as well as other alleged criminal activities.

“This is the best way for the Federal Government to clean up the negative impression of them; protecting corrupt politicians and security agents.”

Isiguzoro added that by ensuring that Kyari is allowed to face his crimes in the US, the signal would only serve as a deterrent to others.

“This will bolster the fight against corruption and provide evidence that FG is sanitising inwardly to all suspected persons with questionable characters and wealth,” the statement added.
Ohanaeze described the activities of suspended Kyari in Imo State and the South-East as “dubious and controversial based on the fact that those who were allegedly killed by Abba Kyari should have been allowed to face the consequences of their actions in any competent Court of jurisdiction.”

It added: “The overflow of corpses of Igbo youths at the FMC, Owerri, and other places in the South-East was alleged handiwork of the IRT team led by Kyari.

Uncertainty over APC Feb 26 convention

“No wonder that nemesis caught up with Abba Kyari so quickly. His appetite for the looting of his suspects’ belongings and cash is second to none. That’s why he was obsessed with covetousness and greed to the point of being unaware of the video recording that was used by NDLEA against him.”

Ohanaeze also noted, “There is no evidence that IPOB was after Abba Kyari, but this standpoint of IPOB after him is apparent evidence of admittance and a guilty plea for the unskilled and unprofessional discharge of his rogue operations in the South-East, especially where Imo State became a slaughterhouse for innocent civilians, many people ended up in the morgue, and lucky ones were unjustly incarcerated in Abuja and Lagos.
