
The Vice-Chancellor of Plateau State University, Bokkos, Prof. Yohanna Izam, says the institution has produced quality graduates who are excelling in diverse endeavors globally.
Izam made the assertion at an interactive session with journalists on Thursday in Bokkos.
The interactive session was organized ahead of the inauguration of the some Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) funded projects at the university, slated for Friday, Feb. 18.
According to the vice-chancellor, the institution has maintained a very high standard of education in its 17 years of existence.
He added that available records showed that graduates of the institution were contributing positively to the growth and development of the nation in different capacities.
He further said that products of the institution have won several international and national awards, hence making the university, state and country proud.
“The standard of education in Plateau State university in our 17 years of its existence is very high.
“Just like any other university in the country, we have our products who are good, some are bad and others ugly.
“Be that as it may, we have graduates of this institution that have won some of the best prizes in the world.
“For instance, a graduate of this institution won the best documentary competition in the United States.
“We also have a graduate of this university who has gone to Russia to be among the top nine in computer science competition across the globe.
“In a nutshell, our products are competing favorably across the globe, and as a university, we are proud of them,” he said.

Izam promised to use the remaining part of his tenure as vice-chancellor to promote quality learning, teaching and research, for the good of society.
“It is in this light that we went the extra mile to ensure that the 17 courses offered in the university get full accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC)
“We are also introducing new ones so that we can expand the scope of our academic activities to produce quality graduates that can contribute to the growth of the society,” he said.
Izam also pledged to address the infrastructure deficit in the university through various interventions by government and private organizations.(NAN)
