How live overhead electric cables killed homeless man in Delta community

Live overhead electric cables have reportedly fallen on and killed a homeless man at New Ogorode Road, Sapele, Delta State.

ThisNigeria gathered that the homeless man, who was assumed to be mentally deranged, was taking some rest under one of the electric poles when the cable fell on him last Saturday shortly after heavy rainfall.

Witnesses said that some wire cables cut loose from the electric poles as a result of the downpour the previous day, unknown to the residents.

The man who was said to have been electrocuted reportedly died instantly while some parts of his body got burnt beyond recognition.

It was gathered that health officials of the Sapele Local Government Council later took away the body of the deceased.

Meanwhile, Sapele residents have called on the management of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), government and all relevant authorities to be proactive in order to avoid the recurrence of such incidents in the community.
