4 killed as Police, IPOB Members clash In Ebonyi

At least four persons have been reported killed in Ebonyi State and several others injured during a clash between the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and police following the observance of the sit-at-home order by the IPOB on Monday

An eyewitness said the shooting occurred in the Nnodo community in Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state.

 It was learned that police on patrol had encountered IPOB members who were enforcing the group’s sit-at-home order.

Among those killed were police officers and three IPOB members during the clash.

Wike Calls On Council Chairmen To Fish Out IPOB Members

Source said that motorbikes and cars were also set ablaze during the attack.

“And in order to stop them, the police was mobilized to the area leading to shooting during which deaths were recorded,” he explained.

An official statement from the police and the State Government on the incident was being expected at the time of filing of this report.

It would be recalled that IPOB, through its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, had declared Monday 31st May as sitting at home in commemoration of Biafra Day.
