Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed a Mobile Police Inspector and abducted 23 persons in Ungwan Maje and Ungwan Laka, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The bandits also attacked a retired military personnel, Arewa Sanoma, who narrowly escaped with his family, but his vehicle and motorbike burnt
According to an eyewitness, Billy Ibrahim, he said the armed bandits came in large numbers with heavy weapons, shooting sporadically in the early hours of Wednesday.
The bandits first attacked Ungwan Maje, where they abducted 16 persons, majority of whom were women and children, the source said.

The bandits later unleashed terror on Ungwan Laka, where the Mobile Police Inspector, Joshua Markus, who came to visit his family from Rivers State was killed, before abducting 7 persons, including the wife and daughter of the deceased.
The eyewitness said that the bandits also attacked a retired military personnel, Arewa Sanoma, who narrowly escaped with his family but his vehicle and motorcycle were burnt
The body of the police inspector has been deposited at the Saint Gerald mortuary.
Contacted, the Kaduna State Police Command spokesman, Muhammed Jalige , could not confirm the report.
