Southern Kaduna University NOK an Inspirational – Sheikh Gumi

Sheikh Dr Ahmed Abubakar Gumi, a renowned Islamic cleric, based in Kaduna has described the Southern Kaduna Premier University, NOK University Kachia (NUK) as an inspirational institution.

While commending the founder of the institution, he also appealed for necessary considerations to be accorded the less privileged students during her admission processes.

Sheikh Gumi stated this when he visited the University equally said from the infrastructures he had seen in place, he is inspired that Nigeria still has people with good heart who are committed to bringing back the quality standard of education enjoyed in those days.

He disclosed that his visit to the institution and southern part of Kaduna has afforded him the opportunity to break the barrier of wrong imagination, fear, speculation and assumptions trending in some quarters that southern Kaduna is inaccessible.

The Islamic scholar also averred that from the reception he received, the people are peace loving and hospitable. While applauding the founder Chief Anthony Hassan(Dokaje Jaba) and vision behind establishing the university.

The revered Sheikh Gumi advised the Management to put into consideration the less privileged in the society while admitting students so that they too can have access to quality education.

Speaking also, the founder of the university Chief Hassan described the visit by the renown cleric as a blessing, stressing that this is a sign that the university has come to stay.

Recounting his vision and burden for establishing the institution, Chief Hassan disclosed that over the years, sons and daughters of this part of the start has applied to read special courses like pharmacy, Medicine, Architecture etcetera but were denied admission in certain Government Universities.

He added that another reason for establishing the university was that as a beneficiary of free education in those good days, he thought it wise that as he is aging, the only service he can render to humanity is to pay back to the young and future generations.

The founder also revealed that the National University  Commission (NUC) has given approval to run special science courses as the institute will start advertising for admission as soon as final approval is granted by the Nation’s Federal Executive Council.

Speaking earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Chairman Kachia Local Government, Hon. Peter Agite described the visit of the cleric as a sign that Kachia Local Government enjoins relative peace.

He assured the sheikh that the council remain resolute and committed to building and consolidating on the already existing peace for growth and development in the area.

The cleric and his entourage had earlier taken a tour of the University to inspect facilities  expressed satisfaction with the quality of infrastructures  in ground.
