Troops have surrounded Katsina students’ kidnappers – Garba Shehu

Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media & Publicity, has disclosed that troops have surrounded the gunmen who kidnapped some students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State on Friday, December 11 at 9.30pm.
Shehu who revealed this to BBC on Sunday said the kidnapped students were fewer than earlier reported missing.
In the interview, Shehu said: “Military commanders on the ground have the coordinates of where they believe the bandits are, and whoever they are holding. They have surrounded all of that area.”
“The criminal elements, bandits, will be crushed. They will be eliminated,” he added.
He said that the children believe that 10 of their schoolmates were taken by the bandits, but this still needed to be verified.
But Governor Aminu Masari said 333 students of the school were still missing. He had earlier shut all boarding schools in the state shut.
There were reports of protests in Katsina by some mothers of the students but were reportedly dispersed with tear gas.
