The Deputy President of the Senate, Jibrin Barau and the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Solomon Adeola, have rejoiced with Muslims in the country on the Eid-El-Kabir celebration, emphasising the importance of unity among the citizens.
Their messages were contained in two separate statements issued in Abuja by their Special Advisers on Media, Messrs Ismail Mudashir and Kayode Odunaro, yesterday.
Barau urged Muslims and, indeed, all Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity and the country’s progress.
He also called on Nigerians to continue praying for the country’s well-being and to offer their full support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He added that the President was genuinely working for peace and socio-economic prosperity of the Nation.
Barau said, “I wish Muslims, and indeed all Nigerians, a memorable Eid-El-Kabir. This season reminds us to obey Allah’s instructions, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim. True Muslims should adhere to the principles of peace, tolerance, justice, and charity.
“In the spirit of this season, irrespective of our faith, let us rededicate and commit ourselves to the dreams and aspirations of building a strong, united, and economically sound country.”
In his Sallah message, Adeola, who is representing Ogun West Senatorial District in the Senate, enjoined all Muslim faithful in his senatorial district and other Nigerians to pray for peace and the consolidation of the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He stated that strict adherence to the teachings of Islam in the areas of sacrifice, love, brotherhood, piety, and peaceful coexistence will significantly aid Nigeria in consolidating the observable gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which addresses the systemic challenges inherited by President Tinubu two years ago.
Adeola wished all Muslim faithful a joyous celebration, pledging to continue the effective representation for which he is known among his constituents in Ogun West and elsewhere.
He promised to ensure that they continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy through the Renewed Hope Agenda and his facilitated programmes in the area of education, provision of social amenities like roads, boreholes, and transformers, among others, as well as constituency empowerment programmes aimed at complementing the efforts of the government at all levels.
