More states receive COVID-19 vaccine from FG

More state are getting their doses of the four million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines received by the Federal government on March 2.

The modalities for sharing the vaccines to the states is not known yet but some states are getting more than other states.

Some states have also refused to disclosed the doses of the vaccine that was sent to them.

Plateau got 105,600, Borno confirmed arrival of 75,510 doses, Benue acknowledges receipt of 50,000 doses.

Also Nasarawa State got 61,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the Federal Government, Ogun government  received 50,000 out of 100,000 expected doses of COVID -19 vaccines from the Federal Government.

Plateau receives 105,600 doses of  Health Commissioner

The Plateau Government has received 105,600 doses of Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine.

The Health Commissioner Dr Lar Ndam disclosed this in a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Pankshin.

“We have just received delivery of 105,600 doses of COVID-19 vaccine from the Federal Government through the Yakubu Gowon Airport.

“Our next step would be immediate onward distribution to our cold chains around the 17 Local Government Areas.

“Once we have done that, we shall commence the vaccination exercise without further delay to safe our people from the ravaging virus, “the commissioner assured the people.

Ndam expressed regrets at Plateau being branded an epic-centre of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The state government has trained 4,296 health workers to administer the COVID-19 vaccines in the state.

Kwara receives AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines

Kwara Government on Tuesday received a  consignment of the COVID-19 Oxford AstraZeneca Vaccines from the Federal Government.

The consignment arrived in Ilorin International Airport at about 8.30p.m. and was received by the state government’s delegation led by the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Health, Dr Abubakar Ayinla.

Addressing newsmen shortly after taking delivery of the vaccines, the Executive Secretary, State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Nusirat Elelu, said the state was excited to witness the delivery of the vaccines to support its fight against coronavirus.

“We are certainly very excited to receive these vaccines and I wish to note that this is a historic day not just for Kwara residents but for the whole country.

“This signifies that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

“COVID-19 has ravaged the whole world in the last one year and I know that those that have lost their loved ones or are down with COVID-19 or just recovered from COVID-19 will know that this is certainly a historic day for us,” she said.

She said that the residents were expected to come out and get themselves protected (once the schedules are released) because the vaccines had been proven to be effective against this infectious disease.

“This is an opportunity to protect our people against the deadly disease. The vaccine is going to be administered in four phases.

“The first phase will target the front liners, health workers, people that work at the point of entries, members of the military and some of our strategic leaders.

“The reason we are also prioritising our strategic leaders is for them to serve as an example to show the world that the vaccine is safe, effective and efficient,” Elelu said.

Erelu assured residents that administration of the vaccines would be launched within the next few days.

Borno receives 75,510 doses of COVID-19 vaccine – Kadafur

The Borno Government has confirmed the arrival of 75,510 doses of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) vaccine.

The Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, confirmed this at a news conference on Tuesday at the Maiduguri Airport.

Kadafur, who is also the Chairman of the state Taskforce on COVID-19, said the taskforce would meet to decide when to commence the vaccination.

He said “when plan for vaccination is ready, we will unveil it to you.”

Kadafur and other members of the taskforce were at the airport to receive the vaccine, which arrived around 9 p.m.

Benue Govt takes delivery of 50,000 COVID-19 vaccine – Commissioner

The Benue State Government on Tuesday acknowledged the receipt of 50,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Ngunan Addingi, said this at the end of the Executive Council Meeting in Makurdi.

Addingi said that the vaccination was completely voluntary.

She said: ”The state government has received a total of 50,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine for onward vaccination of Benue citizens.

Addingi said the state action committee on COVID-19 would meet to determine the modalities and when the vaccination would begin.

The commissioner said that the state Executive Council also approved the sum of N163.6 million as government’s 10 per cent monthly contributory pension for its workers.

Addingi added that the council approved the sum of N77.4 million for the training of Special Constables in the state and another N34 million as their monthly stipends.

Osun receives COVID-19 Vaccines

The Osun State Government says it has received doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the Federal Government.
Mrs Funke Egbemode, the State’s Commissioner For Information and Civic Orientation, made the disclosure in a statement on Tuesday in Osogbo.
Egbemode said that the state government delegation received the vaccines at Akure Airport at about 7:11pm.
She said the government was prepared to preserve and administer the vaccines, adding that the state government had trained 300 health workers for the vaccination.
Egbemode also said that government had installed storage facilities (cold chain) across the 332 wards in the State.
She assured residents of the state that the government would soon commence the vaccination in line with the scheduled guidelines laid down by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
The Commissioner advised citizens to shun the misinformation about the vaccines.
She added that the vaccines had been scientifically tested and certified fit for human use by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
Egbemode added that in spite of the administration of the vaccines, citizens should continue to observe all COVID-19 protocols laid down by the government.

COVID-19: Nasarawa receives 61,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines

The Nasarawa State Government has confirmed the receipt of 61,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the Federal Government.

Dr Emmanuel Akabe, Deputy Governor of the state gave the confirmation on Tuesday while inspecting vaccines storage facility at the central medical store in Lafia.

Akabe, who is the chairman of the state Taskforce on COVID-19, said the taskforce would ensure proper distribution of the vaccines across the 13 local government areas of the state for the vaccination of residents.

He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, and the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency for allocating the vaccines to the state.

Akabe noted that the central medical facility had the capacity to store over four million vaccines.

The deputy governor was accompanied on the inspection visit by Ahmed Yahaya, Commissioner for Health and Mohammed Adis, Executive Chairman of Primary Healthcare Development Agency.

LASG receives doses of COVID-19 vaccines

The Lagos State Government said it has received doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the Federal Government.

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State disclosed this on Tuesday in Ikeja while speaking at the 2021 International Women’s Day celebration organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Sanwo-Olu said that the state government received the vaccines at 4a.m. on Tuesday (today) and they were kept in a safe place.

He assured residents that the state government would soon commence the vaccination in line with the scheduled guidelines laid down by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).

The governor implored residents to continue to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols like wearing of face mask, washing of hands and observing social distance.

Ogun govt. receives 50,000 doses of COVID -19 vaccines

The Ogun government on Monday,  received 50,000 out of 100,000 expected doses of COVID -19 vaccines from the Federal Government.

Receiving the vaccines at the governor’s office Abeokuta, Gov. Dapo Abiodun noted that the remaining 50,000 doses of the vaccines would arrive the state later in the night.

The governor hinted that the state government would commence the vaccinations in line with the scheduled guidelines laid down by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).

Abiodun added that the state government had identified particular state hospitals, general hospitals, primary health care centres across the state that would be used for the vaccination.

“I am sure you are aware that there is a portal that already exists and there is a link that allows you to register or preregister and identify your local government so it can be close to the available centre as possible.

“We will be prioritising our front line health workers, our elders and we go down the line as stipulated by NPHCDA,” said the governor.

COVID-19: PTF members receive vaccines

According to him, the arrival of the vaccines signaled the beginning of the end of the pandemic that had disrupted lives in the last 13 months.

“This vaccines that we are getting, the protocol is that we get the first shot and then we get the booster shots and it is not until we get that booster shots that we have the required level of immunity.

“Even at that, what science tells us is that it is meant to reduce the severity of disease so the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines will still continue to obtain.

“We are beginning to see the end of the pandemic, the COVID- 19 protocols and guidelines continues,” he said.

The governor said he and his Deputy, Noimot Salako -Oyedele, would lead in taking the vaccines.
