Plateau revenue service targets N26bn as IGR for 2023

The Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS) says it is targeting N26 billion as its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the 2023 fiscal year.
PSIRS Chairman, Mr Arlat Dashe, made the disclosure when he addressed newsmen on Tuesday in Jos.
Dashe said that the service already generated N7 billion in the first quarter of the year and intended to strategically meet the set target at the end of the year.
The chairman announced that the service invested hugely in staff training to build capacity and equip members of staff to function optimally.
“We have trained our staff in various ways to enable them to take ownership of the job and to effectively handle high value task that would make meeting target easy.
“Professionals were brought in to give members training that would transform them culturally and also give them psychological safety in the discharge of their duties.

“Technology is the service main driving tool as it had automated most of its processes.
“Tax payers were not left out in this as  the service had sensitized 200 tax payers from different sectors on its integrated revenue system,” he said.
Dashe further said that the PSIRS wanted to carry everyone along to make tax payers comfortable while they paid tax and also made it easier for the service to collect.
According to him,  the aim of the sensitization is to get tax payers educated on how to use the available integrated platform for payment.
The  chairman stated that the service had commenced the harmonization of taxes in the state to check multiple taxation.
He assured that the service would continue to train and retrain staff members, motivate them appropriately and also  educate  tax payers to achieve the set  target.(NAN)
