NANS urges EFCC to drop BUK student’s case

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has opened discussions with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over the case involving Bayero University Kano student, Maryam Isah Sheu.

The student body asked for a resolution that would allow her to continue her studies without disruption.

NANS disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying it had formally engaged the EFCC and other relevant authorities to address the matter, particularly as the student’s examinations draw closer.

The association said its intervention was driven by concerns that the ongoing legal proceedings could adversely affect Sheu’s academic progress.

“The leadership of NANS has reached out to the leadership of the EFCC to seek a resolution that will lead to the discontinuation of the case against Maryam Isah Sheu, a student of Bayero University Kano,” the statement said.

The students’ body stressed that it was pursuing the matter through dialogue and constructive engagement, while expressing its commitment to protecting the academic interests of Nigerian students.

NANS said it would continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as discussions with the relevant authorities progress.
