3 in court for alleged breach of peace, grievous harm

Three men – Jimoh Kushimo, Samuel Timileyin, and Emmanuel Olumide – on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaching the peace.

Kushimo, 20; Timileyin, 20, and Olumide, 20, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, causing grievous harm and breach of peace.

The trio, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, ASP Rachael Williams, told the court that the defendants committed the offenses on June 16 at 11.00 a.m. at No. 13 Oko Oba Road, Agege, Lagos.

Williams said that the defendants breached the peace when they entered Mr. Chinemerem Edwin’s shop to beat him up over an unresolved argument.

He said that Kushimo stabbed the complainant in the left eye with a broken bottle.

Williams said that the offenses violated Sections 168(d), 245, 406(2), and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Newsmen report that Section 411 stipulates a two-year jail term for conspiracy.

The Magistrate, Mr. M.O. Dawodu, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Dawodu ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
