Why Jigawa Steered Clear of EndSARS Protest – Compol

The Jigawa state Police Commissioner, CP Sule Gomna has defended the states staying off EndSARS Protest, saying it was to restrain from acts of unlawful protest..
Assuring citizens of the preparedness of the state command towards ensuring relative peace and protection of lives and property in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
Addressing a press conference at the commands premises yesterday, he said we are not against any lawful protest, but we will not allow any violation of breakdown of law and order from any quarters.
Commenting on the ongoing protest, the police boss said in order to avert public unrest we quickly held a consultative security meeting with all relevant stakeholders on the consequences of security breach for us to live in peace going by what is happening in other places, stressing this among other avenues were adopted in resolving the protest peacefully.
“Police is not against protest, our only fear is its adverse consequences which we must act to avert in stirring away any unlawful protest as such misbehavior often disrupts peace or destruction of people’s lives and properties” he said
He enjoined the citizens of Jigawa state to embrace peace and stir- off unlawful protest as such moves do negate peaceful coexistence.
On the activities of the command, CP Sule Gonna said the command had successfully apprehended some gangs of armed robbers, and four persons suspected on cases of punishable deaths with homicide.
According to him all the culprits are in the police custody where they are facing serious interrogations assuring all will soon be arraigned before court of law at the exit of police investigations for public prosecutions.
Amongst the criminals arrested are those that specialise on theft of motorcycles, SQ flex Groundfos Solar Pump, and robbery in different location’s across the state, lamenting most of the arrested criminals are from neighboring Kano and Bauchi states.
He reiterated the commands readiness that it will not relent in its oars of fighting crimes and criminality through the use of professionalism, and called for public cooperation and support the police with useful information to enhance its operations.
