
The Rivers State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Speaker Martin Amaewhule, has withdrawn its impeachment notice against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
This was contained in the notice of withdrawal read on Wednesday during plenary.
The notice stated that the decision to withdraw was based on the respect for President Bola Tinubu.
ThisNigeria reported on Monday that Tinubu had convened a reconciliation meeting between Fubara and his predecessor, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
In the resolution reached at the end of the meeting, President Tinubu directed the Martin Amaewhule-led assembly to withdraw the impeachment proceedings against Fubara.

He also directed the governor to resubmit the names of the pro-Wike commissioners that resigned in the wake of the political rift.
Recall that 27 lawmaker, who are also loyalists of the Minister, had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
