A United Kingdom-based soccer scout, Basil Kabbani, says introduction of technology, through data analysis of players’ performances, can further help Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), especially during transfers.
Kabbani stated this in an interview on Thursday in Akure.
The soccer scout was in Ondo State for a scouting programme, organised by Mandot Soccer Stars Football Club, Akure and a Lagos-based Ude Sports Management Limited.
Kabbani was also at the State Sport Complex, Akure on match day 26 of the NPFL on Wednesday, where Sunshine Stars defeated Dakkada FC 1-0.
He said with data analysis of players’ performance, the profile of the Nigerian league would improve.
According to Kabbani, technology is the future of football, stressing that the Catapult Technology, GPRS tracker and 360 application which they brought from abroad could also enable coaches analyse their players’ performances.

He noted that with data analysis, recruitments and matches could now be done technologically.
“If data analysis is introduced into NPFL, in five years’ time, the organisers will look back and appreciate the improvement.
“It will not just be down to the emotion of the coaches, the strategies are being done by data across the world. I’m looking forward to seeing more reactions from Nigeria technically,” he said.
Kabbani commended the quality performance during the NPFL match between Sunshine Stars and Dakkada.
